About Dr George Kong

Dr George Kong is a Glaucoma Subspecialist and Comprehensive Ophthalmologist with special expertise in;

  • Complex glaucoma and cataract surgery

  • Stent devices & minimally invasive glaucoma surgery

  • Laser for glaucoma prevention and treatment

  • Glaucoma due to angle closure and inflammation


In addition to his Private Consulting and Surgical Commitments, Dr Kong has Public Appointments at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital (RVEEH), Monash, Eastern Health and the Austin Hospital. 

 

Dr Kong has a PhD in the complexities of the optic nerve response to raised eye pressure, and he is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Melbourne, where he continues to pursue research in association with CERA (the Centre for Eye Research Australia.)

Dr Kong undertook his Ophthalmology training at RVEEH, followed by further Subspecialty Training in Complex Glaucoma and Cataract Surgery at Cambridge, United Kingdom.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr Kong is fluent in Chinese Language (Mandarin and Cantonese).
